In June 1998,a spokesman from Save The Children brought a camcorder and took a video of me doing 20 minutes of skipping tricks - in both adapted and in conventional ways.

ADAPTED SKIPPING-(Lift-Kick)

At the start, I demonstrate:
  1. Both Phases of the "Lift-Kick" Cycle
  2. Stationary skipping-using the same collapsing foot
  3. walking and skipping-using successive SWING-CROSSOVERS.
  4. running and skipping-utilizing the same collapsing foot.
CONVENTIONAL SKIPPING
  1. I did alternating-feet rope jumping(hopping on one foot-and then the other.) At first, I would Lift one thigh-to collapse the opposite foot. Then I would do the Kick-to accomplish the same result

  2. I also did running and skipping. Going one direction, I would LIFT-the thigh-to collapse the opposite foot; going the other direction, I would KICK the calf-to accomplish the same effect.

  3. Two Feet Jumping
    • Jumping and Skipping-in a foward motion
    • stationary 2-feet Jumps(I did 100 of them.)

  4. Dancing and Skipping. Taking a step-in any direction-and clearing the rope-on the same foot. I would sing a song-to instil a sense of rhythm and timing.
MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS:
  1. How to combine two types of skipping stunts-to instil a cross-training effect.

  2. How two people can turn two 14-feet ropes-to do Double Dutch.

  3. If only 2 people are playing, attach one end of the rope-to a pole-or to a wire fence. One person turns; the other person jumps.

  4. What is meant by entering "the back door" and "front door: of a turning rope?

  5. how to enter either door. When do you START to rush towards the rope? Why are the rules different when you run into the back door? Why must you be closer to the rope-(to start)if you run into the back door?

  6. How to exit a turning rope.

  7. What is meant by ACCENTED BEAT. To make a game friendly-for a novice skipper, you could make the rope turn slowly by making such rope strike the pavements only on the ACCENTED beats-of the chanted rhyme. (To turn the rope fast, make it strike the pavement-on every beat.
