| The Dance of the Alpine Flowers

This is a skipping game for six people. Two "enders"
turn the rope. Four girls are skippers. The enders
pretend they are American tourists-hiking to Garibaldi
Lake-in British Columbia. The four girls pretend they
are alpine flowers-swaying in the wind-displaying to
the two tourists "the joy of being alive."
The song is a parody to the song "The Austrian"
Two Americans came rambling
On the Garibaldi Way
And came upon a lupin
Merrily did it sway.
The girl who is the "lupin" runs into the turning
rope(through the back door or the front door)when the
name "lupin is called" She continues to skip-during
the chorus-which goes like this:
Oh, lay, lah
Yo lah-kee-kee Yo lah-kee-koo-koo-koo
Yo lah-kee-kee-ah Yo lah-kee-koo-koo-k00
Yo lah-kee-kee ah Yo lah-kee-koo-koo-koo
Yo lah kee kee ah yo
Then the "lupin" exits the rope. The girls might then
sing:
Two Americans went rambling
On the Garibaldi Way
And came upon a glacier lily
Merrily did it sway.
And same for the purple aster, and the Indian
paintbrush.(if there are more than four skippers, more
flowers would be added.)
After all the girls have had a turn to skip, the
enders stop turning, The four girls sing these
words-to the enders:
The growing season's very short
Autumn is on its way
In October,frost will sprinkle us
And the skies will be gray
In November, snow will bury us
We will dream our cares away
But next summer, we'll be in bloom again
Hope you'll come back some day.
Then all six people sing the chorus. However, there
is a pause-at the end-of the next-to-last line-where
the four skippers (and only them) sing to the two
enders - this line (emphatically):
Hope you'll come back some day.
